Welcome to the Web Site dedicated to helping students learn about higher education opportunities provided by the United Methodist Church and its related agencies.

The mission of this Web Site embodies the Wesleyan tradition of commitment to the education of laypersons and ordained persons.

The United Methodist Church’s commitment to this tradition is evidenced by its awarding of more than $4.8 million in scholarships to 3,805 students and more than $3.5 million in loans to 1,485 students in the year 2000.

The funding for United Methodist scholarships and loans is provided by the investment of donations originating from:

·        Special Sunday offerings including United Methodist Student Day, World Communion Day, and Native American Awareness Sunday.

·        Individual wills and annuities.

·        The United Methodist Higher Education Fund.

·        Other designated gifts.

Students should also check with their LOCAL CHURCHES about scholarship opportunities.  Many local churches have active scholarship programs.

An additional resource that should be sought at local churches is a MENTOR who has achieved an advanced degree.  A mentor can provide invaluable assistance when competing for scholarships; they have been there already.
